Agency History | Founded in 1969, the Graduate Student Senate (GSS) is a governing organization serving the graduate student body at Bowling Green State University. Through legislative efforts, active representation on University committees, and ongoing communication with administration, faculty, staff, and students, the senate strives to enhance graduate students’ academic and social experiences during their time at BGSU. It serves as the chief advocate for graduate student needs and issues throughout the university. According to the original constitution, the GSS shall represent the graduate student in university affairs, serve as a forum for free discussion of problems facing the graduate student, provide a means of regular and easy interchange of information, establish working relationships with all graduate students, and conduct itself in a manner consistent with the spirit of the procedures and regulations of BGSU. |
Scope and Content | The collection consists of governance documents such as meeting minutes of the senate and its various committees, as well as constitutions, resolutions, amendments, and bills; reports and publications; promotional materials including newsletters and fliers; award files; and correspondence. The collection is organized in the order it was received, with at least one addition made to the original collection. Collection size: 7 legal-sized archive boxes; 29 letter-sized archive boxes (13.17 cubic feet). Also includes some digital files. |
