Introduction | The records of First United Methodist Church, Perrysburg, Ohio were transferred for microfilming to the Center for Archival Collections, Bowling Green State University on February 17, 1992, with the cooperation of Irene Watkins. The collection consists of five volumes of membership registers, seven volumes of record books, nine volumes of minute books, and two pamphlets. The membership registers contain entries dated from 1864 to 1958 pertaining to probationary members, members in full standing, baptisms, marriages, deaths, class enrollments, and pastors. Seven record books contain reports of the congregation's quarterly conferences. The first volume also contains membership data for the period 1850 to 1851 and 1867 as well as baptisms for the period 1836 to 1841. The third volume contains membership data for the period 1908 to 1909. Included as minute books is one volume of minutes from the meetings of church leaders from 1849 to 1861. Scattered membership data is also included in this volume. Minutes of the Sunday School Society from 1875 to 1908 comprise one volume as do the minutes of the church's Epworth League from 1902 to 1915. The constitution of each group is recorded in these volumes. The Ladies Aid Society is well documented in five minute books covering the period from 1908 to 1952. These volumes contain the constitution and bylaws, a list of society members, secretary's minutes and financial reports. The name of the Society was changed to the Women's Society of Christian Service in September of 1940. One volume of minutes of the Women's Missionary Association exists for the thirteen year period from 1941 to 1954. Lastly, the collection includes two pamphlets containing historical summaries. The first was prepared in celebration of the church's 125th anniversary in 1945; the second on its 150th anniversary in 1970. No restrictions exist on the research use of collection and duplication is permitted. The collection was processed for filming and a register was prepared by Monica Manny in March 1992. |
